Team India head coach Rahul Dravid and the support staff have been given contract extensions by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The BCCI acknowledged Dravid’s instrumental role in molding the Indian Team and commended his exceptional professionalism. The support staff, including batting coach Vikram Rathour, fielding coach T Dilip, and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, will also continue their roles with Team India.
Dravid’s second tenure as the head coach will commence with the South Africa tour starting from December 10. This tour will feature three ODIs and T20Is each, along with two Tests. Following this, there will be a five-match Test series against England at home, leading up to the ICC T20 World Cup in June.
Dravid took over as head coach after the disappointing ICC T20 World Cup in 2021, where India exited in the Super 12 stage. His tenure concluded with India’s runners-up finish in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup at home.
On the contract extension, Dravid expressed his gratitude to the BCCI and the Office Bearers for placing their trust in him and endorsing his vision. He also thanked his family for their sacrifices and support. Dravid emphasized the culture they have set in the dressing room, which stands resilient in moments of triumph or adversity. He praised the skills and talent of the team and stressed the importance of following the right process and preparations.
The contract extension ensures continuity and stability in the coaching staff, allowing them to build on the progress made so far. With Dravid at the helm, Team India will continue to strive for excellence in future challenges.
