With the Australian cricketer Mitchell Marsh seen disrespecting the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 trophy by putting his feet on it after his team’s victory over India on 19 November, an FIR has been filed against him in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh on 24 November.

The FIR was lodged after a complaint made by RTI activist Pandit Keshav, who claimed that Marsh’s actions had offended the sentiments of Indian cricket team fans. Pandit Keshav even forwarded a copy of the complaint to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging that the Australian player should not be allowed to play cricket in India.
